The Aiden Project🔨
Великобритания
Добавлен 30 ноя 2011
Hello there, I'm Aiden, and I'm knee-deep in the exhilarating adventure of constructing my own dream home. As I scoured the internet for inspiration, I stumbled upon a surprising gap: there seemed to be a scarcity of comprehensive resources catering to individuals embarking on the journey of crafting their custom-built abode. Determined to fill this void, I took it upon myself to blaze a trail and launched my very own DIY RUclips channel.
My mission? To ignite the flames of creativity and motivation in others by generously sharing the highs, lows, and everything in between of my self-build escapade. Through my channel, I aspire to offer a beacon of guidance and inspiration, serving as a testament that with passion, perseverance, and a sprinkle of ingenuity, anyone can transform their vision of a perfect home into a tangible reality.

I Bought My Kitten a Solar Water Fountain
Just a little video about a solar water feature fountain I bought for my feral kittens and any other wildlife that may use it. The cats live outside and I want to make sure they have plenty of water for all the sunny weather that the UK gets! haha I'm not sure the solar panel is that great though.

'AI' pump.... What's the then?!
I've never seen or heard of anyone using soapy water for silicone. Do people even do this?
Intro what you're going to do today, explain why, then do it. BUT speed up the part where you are doing it. When viewers see loads getting done in a couple of minutes they forget all the jobs they never got done 'today, this week, month' and will keep watching you do all the work gladly. I follow a lawn guy and all he does is tell you what's wrong with the lawn, what he's going to do about it, then does it, BUT does it on fast play. Peoples attention spans have shrank, they want to see a lawn scarified in 15 seconds, seeded in 12 and top dressed in 10. Its a drive through world we live in now, the screen is where its at.
Cant really understand what old mate is tryna say here speak proper english please
Can't deal with a London accent?
Thank you soooo much, you drawing really helped tons. Also i didn't know i could still separate window from frame after i opened it wrong in the first place. Thx again.
I got the receiver a few weeks ago so stumbled across your video to research more into it. If it helps, mine is also missing the 2nd rubber pad so I guess thats normal ;)
Great content. Many thanks. 💪🏽🙌🏾
I bought something similar years ago, after 10 minutes they lost interest, little gits. Mine was electric though, ran off mains. As for electrickery, I don't understand it, I'm a mechanical engineer.
😆
That fountain uses Chinese wise wisdom technology, they know you generally would sit outside in the sunshine and when it's cloudy you won't be there, so it's saving itself for longer working life 🫣😊👍🇮🇪
Hahaha
Great video Aiden! I'm looking forward to you're next video.... DIY haircut. Hee hee, you're looking smart fella.
I wouldn't say smart, just not so much of a scruff bag 😆
That's not a kitten, it's a mini tiger 😊
Totally wild 😸
At 6:40 how on earth does that help your back?!?😳
It pulls my shoulders back so it gives me better posture, plus it's got hard plastic runners that go in the centre of my back which stops me bending from there. Most people bend from their lower back but I tend to bend from my mind back 😬 and cause it's restricting somewhat it reminds me not to twist so I get that jolt. I have an issue with a disc in my mid back
We've just moved into our new place and the cat now likes to get in the bath and have a lick of the water from there, I think cats will try water from anywhere at least once. Oh, and I see you got a hair cut then. Was that done at the new barbers? How do you rate them? Any good? Looks alright on the video.
One of my old cats used to drink out of the bath whilst I was in it! 😂 Yeah new barbers are ok, not the best cut I've had but certainly not the worse so I'm happy to go back. I literally filmed the 2nd half as soon as got back from getting it cut, she didn't put any product in it so I'm sure it could have looked a little better on camera if I bothered 😂
My cat drinks out of a plastic pint glass I got at Download festival in 2007 😸
😂
Ivy Watts a powerful lady, I (amps) x V (volts) = Watts. The panel needs to produce enough of amps x volts to meet the minimum wattage of the pump, I prefer to use a clamp meter to measure the amps.
Ahaa I remember this from physics class now 😂 maybe I should have said yes to the free Chinese clamp meter I was offered 😁
Nice little video Aidan, explains a lot, my dogs prefer to find the manky puddle and slurp it down. That water feature is really pretty 🙄 The ride on mower, a mountfield? Is there a project in that? 👍
Oh no it's a rally ride on. Not really a project other than in order to start it I have to run a jump lead straight off the battery to the starter motor 😅 it works well enough to not need any attention. Had an issue with it last year but after I cleaned the carb out it was fine. I do either need to have a go at sorting the land rover or the digger though. Wish I could just pause time and mess about with them
The solar panel has no load on i, that's why the voltage remains high, as soon as you load it, by connecting the pump, it pulls current from the panel and it will drop the panel voltage. If its sunny and the panel is uncovered, the suns energy is being converted usable electrical power. If you cover the panel, there is less power, so the pump slows down. Imagine it like a poor battery, when nothing is connected to it the voltage across the terminals will be sort of normal. If you connect a load on it, the voltage drops significantly.
Oooohhh 🤯 that's so obvious 😆 why didn't I realise that
If I put out a selection of Evian at different temperatures, flowing and still the cat would drink from the plant pot every time!
😂 why are they like that
If you ask ChatGPT it says voltage does remain constant while the current varies according to weather conditions. So if the panel has enough light to function at all, the voltage level is determined by the semiconductor materials in the panel, not outside conditions.
I think I'm going to go question it abit more until I fully understand it 🧐
Like my dog that loved the water from the toilet 😒despite having fresh water everywhere else. Also I see your appointment with the hairdresser didn't go too well 😅
Oh she done alright 😅 Its not my best cut but it's not my worst, so it'll do. I had literally just got back from the barbers before I filmed this and didn't have any products in it
Our Feral monster cat drinks out the manky bird bath rather than from the fresh water bowl we provide 🤷
We've got the same outdoor 'table', in my case because the electrician couldn't be arsed to take it away with him, lasted a couple of years so far so can't complain.
I actually ended up buying this specifically for the cats 😆
Come on the new Barnet was out and you didn't mention it..Does the fountain have batteies for the solar panal to store charge? It looks like the solar panel powers the pump directly, if it's a 5-7 volt pump and the solar panel can't harvest that when the sun goes behind a cloud it'll stop...maybe...🤷🏻
Yep no batteries included, maybe there's a cheap solar panel battery set up that might work with it 🤷
I love my cat. But there's a reason cat rhymes with twat.
I bought this last summer. Worked great for a week or two, albeit with same solar issues you had. Both my domesticated cats drank from it (it wasn't bought for that purpose). Then the seal under the frog went, and it kept emptying, so it got stored in the shed. Am 50/50 on whether to find a solution to the leak or bin it.
Buy some tube, put a longer one on the pump and extend it out the mouth maybe?
Knowing cats, just leave an old khazi, with some water in it, outside!
😆
Cats and women, go figure. Best o luck with them. Take care & stay safe.
Only just noticed - the barnet is looking good 😀
You have to treat the cats well 👍👍
Spend as much on footings as possible and this shouldn’t happen
This isn't anything to do with the foundations though
Great tip another thing I've done is with my finger dip it and soapy water and slide it across. Because you're not wetting the edge where the gap can be you get a good seal as it pushes it in against the surface and doesn't stick to your finger
I've seen this gap fill with XPS or kingspan green guard then screed over the top.
They'd still have the problem with the cill though 🤔
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT ah ok mate 😉. Just watched your updated video tonight good job 👍. I could see you where a little ticked off to say the latest 🤣. Like you said soon as you insulate it and screed it will never be noticed.
Nice caulk
All that mess and shit everywhere would do my nut in. Don’t know how you put up with it! Hope you don’t have neighbours 😅
Is that Millie?
Yep 👍🏻
It's great to see this channel growing, Aiden.

She's already had 3 😁
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT oh great! Hopefully she gets them before they get to the van! 🙄
17,500 people subscribe. They must like something about Aiden.......or perhaps they idolise Arfur?!
But only 3000ish regularly watch 😆
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT Yeah, but if 3,000 people turned up at 'Acer View' that would be quite a crowd. However I expect you would like to add at least one or two zero's on the end of that number. The people I really look forward to often have a story to tell, they have interesting things to work on and they do it in a fun way. You have most of those (imo). People I always watch (if they have a new video): - Farmcraft101 - Watch Wes Work - CuriousMarc - Monkey Wrench Mike - Bricklaying with Steve & Alex - Some bloke called Aiden You have even had 'The Gosforth Handyman' give you a shout out....he couldn't understand why you weren't more popular (if I remember correctly). PS I used to follow Gosforth Handyman on a regular basis too. He's very similar to you.....but bald & talks with a strange accent.
Why don’t you give Gary a call to give you a hand?
He's on holiday 🙄😆
Thank you for this video! I wish I'd found it sooner... Unfortunately I ordered from these scammers. 🤦♀
Oh no!
I’m on the driveways and patio landscaping Facebook group, and it’s full of grumpy old experts with nothing better to do than critique and mock other peoples work. With regards to the acer, it looks like it’s dried out for a spell, hence the die back. I would mulch the soil with compost and feed liquid seaweed to help the roots along but go easy on the feed for the rest of the year. Find a more shady sheltered spot for it too. It will come back fine and you will be able to take cuttings or air layerings to make loads of them.
I'll have to look up how to take cuttings, good idea 👍🏻
Watching you clear up has inspired me to to do mine too, have so much stuff that just needs chucking or putting back in the right place. There is always something to chuckle about on your videos so keep them coming.
Hope you're having fun 😅
I honestly think you could have the place done - or close - in 18 months if you really start cracking on with the main build and prioritise it. Get yourself a whiteboard, get the jobs listed in an order and start crossing them off! I bet you felt so much better after all that tidying, there’s something very satisfying about just having a massive tidy/clear-out. I wouldn’t worry about the insulation / mouse situation, I had a load of sips panels sat out for a year or so, I think I had one or two panels with a little nibble off an edge, that was it. Keep at it! 👍
I'm pretty sure I haven't finished the jobs that I last put on the white board from months ago 🤣
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT you’ll get there mate… sometimes it’s worth taking a second to remind yourself of all the stuff you HAVE done.. rather than focusing on the stuff you haven’t.
